Mountain Lentil Dal (Yellow Lentil Dal)

for 2 persons
a simple recipe – quickly prepared

Dal belongs to almost all Ayurvedic dishes. Dahl or dal are more or less soupy side dishes that have lentils or mung beans as a basic ingredient.

For this recipe you need

about 150 g dried mountain lentils (yellow lentils)
1 teaspoon ghee
about ½ l water
a small portion each of carrots, tomatoes and herbs

some Himalayan salt and Ayurveda seasoning
(e.g.: turmeric, ginger, cucurmin, coriander, cardamon)

Preparation

The soaking time is very important. The mountain lentils are soaked in plenty of water for about 12 to 14 hours. After that, the water is tipped away.

Boil the mountain lentils for about 1 hour in ½ l of water. When they are soft and creamy, they are pureed. Add a tsp. of ghee, the finely chopped carrots and tomatoes to the puree and refine to taste with Himalayan salt, Ayurveda spices and herbs.
